Through artefacts, exhibits and story, visitors will learn all about the history of the Gaol and the greater Hay area as they tour through the building.

First opened in 1880, the state heritage listed Hay Goal has an intriguing history with many uses that started as a Gaol and was over time transformed into a maternity hospital, a high security hospital for the insane, a POW detention camp during WWII, an institute for girls and finally a museum!

Through artefacts, exhibits and story, visitors will learn all about the history of the Gaol and the greater Hay area as they tour through the building.

Apex park inside the Gaol grounds is also a great place to relax with a picnic, and has a great playground for the kids.
